Students from Hove Park School were recently featured on the Imperial War Museum's website and BBC Radio Sussex and Surrey for their moving project 'We Are Poppy'.
We Are Poppy, was set up by Make (Good) Trouble CIC, and has a team made up of Mental Health and Wellbeing Champions from Hove Park School and the East Sussex Youth Cabinet, and local volunteers. It is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
There has always been a huge focus on men and shell-shock in World War 1, but scant little information about the effect of the great war on the lives and mental health of women. ‘We are Poppy’ aimed to change that. The young people created a webpage and made a podcast which was then aired on BBC Radio Sussex and Surry on Sunday the 8th of November called ‘Dear Poppy’ and a pack of resources for schools to use.

Special shout out to Arielle from Year 10 for her unwavering commitment to the project during school closures! She has been awarded a Cities of Learning Digital Badge for the huge amount of work she put in to creating these resources.
