Curriculum

At Hove Park School, the global world in which our students are growing up in is at the heart of language learning and we promote an understanding of the culture, people and history of the target language country and, where possible, travel to and interaction with, students of a similar age.

In German we explore the culture and history of Germany and the German speaking countries across years 7-11. Events and topics studied include; Karneval, Weihnachten and Weihnachtsmärkte, food specialities, modern day Berlin and elements of its past history and the role Ausländer (immigrants) play in the vibrancy in modern day Germany. Above all we focus on how German has contributed to the development of modern English as well as the linguistic contributions in science, mathematics and the arts.
